"go out to the parking lot and stand in a line."
there was just a fire in our building.
i guess all those constant and rather annoying drills at school came in handy at last.
i know it's kinda weird to feel so calmly about it, considering the fact that for all i knew it was coming from the apartment right next to ours. fortunately it wasn't. it had actually started somewhere two floors above us.
it was nothing big i guess... i mean, i didn't see any smoke. but we could definitely smell it when we got out of the apartment.
so we obeyed our programming and walked calmly and quickly outside.
hung around outside for a little while and met a few neighbors. there are a surprising amount of people who own animals in our building.
i've gotta hand it to the fire department for their speed. i think they arrived within three minutes of the alarm going off. they went all out, too. 4 long fire-trucks clogging up the very narrow streets leading up to the building. got in quick, all things considered. and everything was settled after about... oh, i'd say maybe 10 minutes.
not bad. but was it strange for me to be laughing the entire time? it just seemed very surreal. and while trying to guess what could've happened, i kept imagining a bunch of Sims crowded around the flaming stove, flapping their arms in the air and screaming their heads off in Simlish. i guess it woulda hit me harder if it was closer to our apartment, but oh well...
anyways... wow. that was interesting. :)
