"What do you wish for? For whose sake are you being hurt?"
i finally finished watching all of "The Law of Ueki" today, and all i can say is that i really.. really... loved it. XD in all of its randomness! it was fun to watch the most random, funniest things happen in the middle of a fight.
and i loved the voicework in it, too. Romi Paku (Edward Elric, FMA) as Ueki, Tomoko Kawakami (Soi Fong, Bleach) as Mori, Hoshi Souichiro (Son Goku, Gensoumaden Saiyuki) as Sano, Akira Ishida (Gaara, Naruto) as Inumaru, Kappei Yamaguchi (male Ranma Saotome, Ranma 1/2) as Hideyoshi... i'm gonna stop listing voice actors off now... but i was very amused to hear Noriaki Sugiyama (Sasuke, Naruto) playing yet another character who looks like Sasuke. but at least he was much more interesting! there was a point where all he could say was "Chu!" (for various reasons, like getting turned into a mouse) and it amused me very much. and he went totally nuts after all his hair got burned off. XD
okay, back to talking about the actual show. it was really good and i honestly did love it. Ueki's just the sweetest, most selfless, dopiest guy ever. you just can't help but like him! unless you're like, sublimely bitter and cynical... but he's like... a combination of Sora and Naruto, but with Ed's voice. XD but man, he's just the most awesome character, and you just love him more for all the stupid mistakes he makes in order to accomplish some higher purpose.
what a silly, lovable boy.
best Ueki moment: Disco Fever Ueki. bwahaha. ^_^
but anyways, the basic story for the show (wahaha, i got to this last XD) is this: there are 100 Heavenly Beings that have been selected as god candidates (yes, god candidates). all of them have to pick a single middle school kid and bestow upon them some kinda special power to change one object into another (ie, beads into bombs). then they make the kids compete against one another using their powers in like, a giant tournament. the winning student gets the "Blank Zai" (Zais are like, talents and special skills) which they can use to pick whatever Zai they want and their god candidate becomes the new god. Ueki Kousuke is one of those chosen middle school students.
it's a lot of fighting and a lot of random funniness in the midst of each individual's drama (a lot of Ueki's opponents are like, drama queens XD), so it's got a nice little slice of everything. it's all good fun, worth watching. 51 episodes of anime huzzah-ness!
a slice of the random:
