bloody awesome movie. i mean, why the hell didn't i get to watch it sooner?! booo...
so once again, Christian Bale decides to randomly emerge in one of the coolest movies i've ever seen. i'd seen part of the opening sequence before, a few years ago, but i guess i must have forgotten about it after that... so... cool. like The Matrix, but so much cooler. and much less Keanu Reeves. and a lot deeper in meaningfulness. XD
i don't wanna spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it.. but it basically takes place post-WW3, and people decided that the best way to prevent war is to suppress the very cause of it. so they suppressed human emotion. everybody has to take these drugs that don't let them feel. i'm still not 100% sure on whether or not that was limited to just emotions, or also stuff like cold and heat. but anyways, yeah, it's about how the life of one guy who is responsible for upholding that order starts to change. it's reeeeeeeeeeally good. absolutely fascinating.
oh, and the cinematography is gorgeous. for some reason, the movie didn't have a very long run in the USA, but it apparently hit the big time on an international scale. ^-^ so if you haven't seen Equilibrium, you should check it out. it's great. stars Christian Bale, Sean Bean (Boramir!), Dominic Purcell (Lincoln from Prison Break), Taye Diggs (Benny from Rent), William Fichtner (Mahone on Prison Break), and Emily Watson (chick from Punch Drunk Love).
