"WHERE'S ALL THE SHIT GONE?! O.O"
May. 4th, 2009 08:16 amsoooooooooooooooo. lappy update. because, y'know, my life totally revolved around this for this entire weekend.
by some form of miracle, i was able to wipe my laptop clean. like- CLEAN. everything gone, including whatever diseases were hiding in the back of the system files. it was hell trying to get that windows XP boot install stuff out of my computer and into my sister's so it could be burned to a disc and be usable... but i managed somehow. and then reformatting began and my laptop became clean!
...unfortunately, i didn't take into account the fact that i'd need to back up all the hardware drivers. so for several hours, i was panicking about that and trying to figure out how i could get them. it took me well into the night to find what i needed, but before midnight i had most of the essentials. you know... the ones that let me connect to the internet, the ones that let sound and video play, all that good stuff (AND saved all those installer files in my external, should reformatting ever become necessary again -___-). i think i'm still missing a few, because there are things that are... that don't quite seem right, but that could just be the way XP Pro is. i used to have Media Center 2005, sooo... i guess there's just stuff i'm gonna need to get used to. :S
but either way... healthy computer is now healthy!! for the most part, anyway. my computer seems to be totally weirded out by the fact that like. EVERYTHING IT KNEW IS NOW GONE. which kind of amuses me! error messages pop up every now and again about not being able to run something... it's all a jumble of numbers though, so... i really don't get it. o_o if it gets really bad again, then i may take it to a professional. if shit hits the fan the way it did when all of this began, well. that'll be new computer time. -___-
