hikaranko: (excitement)
so i got to go to the Mickey Halloween Party at Disneyland yesterday!!

best day to go EVER. seriously.

because it was pretty much raining all day long. so getting to run around the park in full costume with a wig that's completely spiked up and out while hairspray killing water kept falling out of the sky on it?  was awesome. and i'm only half being sarcastic. xD

the day started out simple enough. i had work in the morning until 1, and after that i headed over to Fluffy and AyaToki's place via the Gold Line (i have now officially gone on every railway system in Los Angeles except the Purple Line, but that's almost the same as the Red Line so screw it xD). i was laughing 'cause their house is literally right by it. but yeah, that part of the day was interesting... i was more or less already in my costume, just so that i'd be saving myself the hassle of completely changing into it when i got to their place. it just needed a few extra things, like the wig and the bandages and the tattoo/scar combo on the right arm. AyaToki got changed into Russel Tringham America, Fluffy DID NOTHING, and then we were off!

we're almost certain that people going down the freeway near us were staring at the BRIGHT BLUE HAIR on my head. but WHATEVER GUYS. MOVE ALONG, NOTHING TO SEE.

and yeah, the weather at this point? while i was at work, it had been raining a little bit, off and on. it stopped raining by the time i was off, and then when i got to the sisters' place it was SO SUNNY AND WARM. we were all like "wtf, this weather." and then as we were driving down the freeway things went from sunny... to cloudy... to drizzling. by the time we got to Disneyland, it was sprinkling. we had to wait for Jen and Bruce at the trams, so we did. got sprinkled on some more in the meantime. and i actually got recognized!! the chick mixed the name up at first and was all "DEATH STAR!" at me. apparently i'm the Death Star. :3 that's kind of cool.

so Jen shows up in her Hungary cosplay (she's so adorable in it!) and then we board the tram. and literally, 15 seconds after we get on the tram? it starts POURING. and our contingency plan for rain wasn't... so good... mine was to just mostly get wet. ^_^;; I HAD AN UMBRELLA but yeah.

first thing we do when we get into the park was go running into the nearest indoor place, which was the Abe Lincoln thing. which was actually kinda cool for a number of reasons: 1) it was dry there. 2) America got to take some nice patriotic pictures. 3) Hungary got to take some pretty pictures. and we were apparently waiting for more people to join us in the park anyway, so we thought that'd be a good place to do it. i hung around and watched the 50 Years of Magic video that had been in that theater, and while i was standing there watching, this old guy walked by, staring at my hair, and went "that's beautiful." i... didn't really know what to do so i just laughed and thanked him. funny old man. :3

so once more people arrived (one carrying $700 worth of photography gear-- which was pretty damn awesome in its own way) we set out again. and this time the rain had lessened significantly. we trusted it enough to forego the umbrellas for a bit, anyway. and this is where ADVENTURE BEGAN.

we were there at 3, and the Halloween party stuff didn't start until 6, so we had time to just. run around Disneyland in costume. so naturally, we hit up as many rides as we could. Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion... we started the ride hopping late, so by the time we got out of Haunted Mansion some of the Halloween stuff was set up...

... i feel like this story needs pictures. i shall wait until i get them to tell the rest. xP
hikaranko: (DO NOT WANT D8)
 geebus, has it been that long? o___o;;

so apparently, my laptop is in need of a video card transplant. for a long time the screen had these colored dotted lines at the bottom of the screen. in the past week and a half or so, it's started flashing whatever is in the top 1/20th of the screen on the bottom. and just today, the entire display has started... twitching, for lack of a better word. i looked up what could possibly be wrong, and my best bet? the video card is damaged. it needs to be replaced.

on the plus side? a video card isn't terribly expensive. my issue is that i'm not really sure how to find out what video card i should be getting. do i get a new one of the one that the laptop came with, or can i get a better one altogether? and then... how to install it? can i really do that by myself? .___.;;

*siiiiiiiiiigh* i have horrible luck with computers. also on the plus side, at least it's not completely broken beyond repair.

in other news... i am going to be cosplaying Spartoi uniform!Black*Star at the Disneyland Halloween thingy! i'm excited to run around being loud :3
hikaranko: (dazzle me bb)
so. like. FANIME WAS FUN-TIMES. even though we seriously didn't do a whole lot outside of artist alley. and the one time we considered it, we knocked out in the room before the thing actually started. :3a;;;

so now you all get the quickest run down of the con EVER.

thursday:
SINGING IN THE CAR IS ALWAYS FUN. especially when it's to Disney music.

friday:
PICKING UP PK AND THEN ARTIST ALLEY. and poor attempt at Ranma cosplay, which was eventually switched out for Ed. i made friends by chasing Jimmy around the artist alley for pulling my hair. i apparently have a new bruvver-thing? also, i picked a fight with either Rough Nut or Tough Nut from How to Train Your Dragon. :> it only ended because i didn't want to crush their awesome-looking shield with my boots. so i totally won that, dammit. <_<
... i don't even remember what happened after that. at some point my hair was chopped off. :3

saturday:
MOAR ARTIST ALLEY! 8D and... i don't think we cosplayed anything. but that was okay because I HAD SHORT HAIR and it was exhilarating. *3* AND i had a moustache~ also, Davie makes an epic Vega. i got a hug. i swear the top of my head is level with his nipple. it was awkward, but sweet. :3
also, WHY SO MANY RANDOM RANMA COSPLAYERS. and WHY DOES EVERYONE COSPLAY MY FANDOM WHILE I'M NOT. O.o;;

sunday:
EEVEELUTIONS. OMG SO MANY PICTURES WERE TOOKED OF US. i also saw some friends from my old university ([livejournal.com profile] spwinkles and [livejournal.com profile] kate_andy , I'VE MISSED YOU GUYS SO MUCH) in their Princess Tutu cosplay, which was random, but amazing. :D
i also had some personal drama, but that was eventually settled.

monday:
hoooooooly crap last day. >_O so much hectic packing in the morning! and then random Caesar appearing during Artist Alley cleanup, which required glomping of that bearded lady. :3 i just found out today that he and his roomies must've set some kind of record for damage payments on their room. miscellaneous beer and alcohol stains on the sheets, as well as vomit stains and who knows what else... they had to cough up $2000. ._____.;;
EPIC DRIVE DOWN WAS EPIC. MOAR DISNEY SINGINGS WERE HAD.

BUT ANYWAYS. the cosplaying was super fun, even if we generally didn't leave the artist alley at all. xD so i wanna do more cosplay stuff! Panda said she's trying to make a Tsubaki cosplay, which made me go "I'LL BE YOUR BLACK*STAR" and now i'm looking for good wigs and stuff for that. also, i still want a Sora costume to derp around in. >_>;; someday. SOMEDAY.  also! Jen and the sisters and Panda and everybody did well at the artist alley! moneys was made!! which was super exciting. and i feel quite compelled to participate in artist alley next year. :3

oh- speaking of next year! i promised zully that i'd do the artist alley booth with her, because i know zilch about business stuff and she knows lots. plus, it's an awesome excuse to sit around and do almost nothing with her for like. 8 hours straight. XD with how rarely she gets to come visit, i've gotta take advantage of it, y'know?? and some of my other friends apparently wanna come next year too, so- who knows? i mean, it's still an entire year away....

...

sob, i already miss it :C

WHY SO COOL, FLUFFY?
hikaranko: (mischief)
SO!! my first time at Otakon was a smashing, very much AWESOME success of a trip. and now i come bearing pictures of the trip!!

we left from San Diego airport at some hideously early hour and got to Baltimore in the afternoon on Wednesday. we found Mama-Manda in the airport, and so she joined our party and we became a group of 8. then we had to take a shuttle out to our hotel, which was a pretty nice, short trip. no complications there, outside of the fact that we had to like, pay. which was sad for us poor people. but anyways, got to our hotel and checked in... we had one room for like... 8 people, at first. and it was a tiny ass room. i actually wasn't able to stay at the hotel that first night, 'cause my sister came and got me so i could go to church in the morning (she bought me dinner too, which was MMMMM DELICIOUS *drool*), but from what i heard they did successfully squish 8 people in there.which really is quite impressive, considering. o_o

...and- i must run. D: more stuff later!!
hikaranko: (mischief)
okay, because i am slow and ridiculous like this. i really should've posted this sooner but, yeah. i fail. XP anyways!

I LOVE CHAPMANITES~ ♥

Anime Club last Thursday night was fun as always! we're such terrible, terrible people for making fun to Death Note (L's "SHINIGAMI WHUT?" reaction still cracks me up) and Fullmetal Alchemist ("lol hostage lol", "gtfo my shoulder") but it's all in good fun. Light, L, Edward, we love you guys~ i'm a little sad that FMA won't get to continue, but oh well, right? i've seen it all... and it was dubbed, so that was kinduva downer. i mean, i like the dub fair enough, but there are still the odd complaints in various... many... places throughout. like NINA. good Lord, who casted that voice for her? >_< but randomly shouting "LOL (insert random item on screen here) LOL" throughout the FMA episodes was still fun.

aside from that, i am always going to love visiting them crazy Chapmanites. i can't even fully explain how much fun it is being around you guys, and you all know how awesome you are, so i don't have to get into it. right? right. ^_^

but i so procrastinated while i was over there. *shakes fist at Chelsea* we really should've worked on that script we're writing but gah, we are so made of fail. and Extreme Ghostbusters (which i have addicted her to, BWAHAHA) and Gargoyles and other miscellaneous 90's cartoons were distracting us for a good hefty portion of the day. agrah. digression. digression and procrastination, two things of which we must all be aware. ...pity that they can be such good fun.

and Amy and Caitlin!!! ♥ Kingdom Hearts costumes at the DCA for the win. once again, i am made of colossal fail so i only saw the pictures like, JUST NOW, i'm pathetic but i totally keysmashed and giggled madly over those pictures. especially Riku with the VILLAINS. LOLOLOL THEY HAS AN EVIL DARKNESS. i'm going to comment spam Amy's post later when i'm not in class. XP

but yeah, while procrastinating we would also go pester Amy and Caitlin because they are awesome and we love them. have some more html hearts guys~ ♥♥♥♥♥ (i like using those things now that i know how)
hikaranko: (biidah!)
- well, looks like i won't be able to make it to Anime Club this week... maybe next week?? or... next month...? T_T BOOOO!!! and i was so looking forward to the Halloween Party!! T_T even if i don't have a pseudo-costume thing thing to wear, i wanted to see everybody else!! cosplay is just so fascinating to me! *wants to hop around in costumes* XP

- i should really be trying to finish off my homework, but i'm just so... not inspired to. i keep finding beautiful anime pictures everywhere and i've just been... hording them all to myself. i can be such a terrible person sometimes, it's a problem that i really do need to work on.

- AAAAH, DEATH NOTE OMGWTFBBQPOLARBEAR!!!!! i finally got around to reading some more Death Note and now i'm on chapter 54 and AAAAAAAAAAHHHH IT'S ALL SO EVIL AND SMART! but why are they calling Raito "Light"?? is he really going to become known as "Light" in english?! 'cause "Light Yagami" does not sound cool. XP but i really like L, he's weird. he holds things funny. but i should really get back to reading it so i can finally finish it and see how the hell everything gets resolved. such madness!!
and i wanna know what has become of 6tan (that's what i'm calling 666 Satan, i get lazy) chapter 57? the time skip is crazy cool! Jio became incredible!!
and Naruto... *sob* team 10 will never be the same... bwahaha, that's my pseudo-spoiler to the world, PUM PUM PUHHHH to those who have yet to read chapter 328!!

- *checks e-mail* oh no, big headedness emerges... some people just say such nice things about my story, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside... kinda makes me feel bad that i haven't been able to write for that story in a while. >_< worse for the other one... oh man, i should update that one soon, it's almost November.

- went to Disneyland on Saturday!! HOORAY!! XD i finally got to see Captain Jack, both inside the ride and outside of it! what a funny guy. :P but damn, i guess i just really haven't been to Disneyland in a long time, 'cause i don't remember the last time i'd seen it so packed!! all the lines were incredibly long, especially for Pirates of the Carribean (it almost took up the entire New Orleans Square!!). but... oh well, i'm happy, i got my pirate ears (heehee) and watched the Jedi academy thing (i - want - that - job) and dual-wielded on the Buzz Lightyear ride/game. fun times, fun times... even though it was depressing to see all the 50th anniversary decorations gone... T_T

Things to Do in the Next 3 Hours:
 - homework

... yeah, i should do that. :P
hikaranko: (naruto)
i just saw everyone's pictures and i'm still in awe over how good everyone looks. XD Caitlin makes such a great Sasuke!!! Hinata-chan! Team 8!! Hitsugaya! Sakura and Hinata in kimonos! ZaBOOza and Kakashi and Iruka and OMG!!! everyone looks so bloody brilliant!

someday i will get into this... first i need money. and i really feel like cosplaying Naruto just because there needs to be a Naruto. i know i'm gonna be crap at it, though... and i still think Amy would make a great Naruto. :P

curse that jacket... so difficult to make. and the buyable ones all look wrong somehow... grr...

oh, and i am so gonna get a hoodie version of Ed's cloak jacket thing. Sora's jacket thing, too.

... me and jackets. why do i like jackets so much...? watch me end up with some kinda weird cosplay jacket collection. Ed's, Sora's, Naruto's... wak! they're all boys!

random: whoa. there is... a giant, freaky lookin' fly on the window outside. O_O;;
... it's not moving. what if it's stuck there...? ewww...
hikaranko: (biidah!)
i've spent the last few hours scoping ebay, looking at various costumes. there's this really good Sora costume there, but it's still missing the shoes, and the gloves are totally oversized. there's this Ed costume that's goin' for $31, but it's missing the gloves and shoes... but i guess you could get those from somewhere else, eh? the Naruto costumes always fall short in one way or another, so i just looked for good Naruto wigs and found one. and i'm afraid that i'm gonna lose it to someone else because i have no idea how i'd be able to get it. T_T and i also ended up looking for orange jackets that are cheap enough to completely mess with (and found quite a few), and then blue jackets that were also super cheap that i could cut up. still have to figure out what to do about Naruto's fuzzy/ridged white stuff and that symbol thing on his arm. but there were a whole bunch of Chinese shirts that are EXACTLY what Ranma wears that i can get for $13.01 (that's including shipping). and they're even SILK, so... it was just like WHOA.

but i don't know what i'm gonna do about all that. i don't have the money, and if i borrowed my sister's credit card to get this stuff, there will be questions that i don't think i'm ready to answer. T_T
if i could get my mom to support cosplay, i could totally ask her tailor designer friend for tips, at the very least...

and now there's just boredom. i suppose i could go work on my latest video (i'm oh so very bored. so much.... free... time...) or on my fanfics... that video requires so much footage... i'm afraid i'm gonna run out of space on my hard drive. there is... too much... Naruto... eating... the hard drive...! >_< and then FanFiction.net has so many fun FMA/HP crossovers (i LOVE crossovers!! wheeeee!), but none of them are done and all of them feature Ed getting to beat up Draco. XD but i don't want Ed to get with Hermione. that would just be bizarre. just because they both read too much... *grumble grumble* and i want more of Al. there doesn't seem to be enough of Al, and i feel sorry for him. but yeah, the FMA/HP crossovers are really good. the two worlds really combine well, in spite of the fact that they reject each other's arts (alchemists: "magic is nonsense." wizards: "alchemy? the thing where you make gold?"). it all makes good sense, though, and i have amassed a small pile of them in my favorites list. XD Ed so rocks my eternal socks, and it's fun seeing him shake things up at Hogwarts.

oh crap, i'm going off on a tangent again. and i will skeeeeewwww to this alternate 19... uhh... nevermind. starting to go mad now. little.... angels... *collapses*

geez, i post something up almost every day... O_O everyone must be so sick about reading "the silly things Kara does when she has too much free time on her hands"...
hikaranko: (confused)
i got so busted by my cousin when he invaded my computer and happened upon a few pictures from the Anime Club Halloween party. he had a good laugh at my expense about my attempt at a Ranma costume, and now i want to slaughter him. grr.

but whatever, i still wanna try making some costumes for myself, and possibly for my sisters. i think my eldest sister would make a really great Tifa Lockheart. she lost the Rinoa look when her highlights grew off, so Tifa's look can be hers now. ^_^;; my other sister... well, i still have to figure that one out, but i know she'd love to be a Browncoat, so we've got that pretty much settled. i think there are a bunch of Disney characters that she wanted to dress up as before, but i'm not totally sure. can't really remember. as for me... there are a bunch of costumes that i wanna do just for the hell of it. not like i'd be particularly amazing in any of 'em, but they're fun. :P
i really REALLY wanna get a Naruto costume because i'm in love with his jacket (even though it's clearly the hardest part of the costume to make). will need a good blonde wig. i need to get some kind of kung-fu outfit for Ranma (that Chinese top i had was alright, but Ranma never really wore a top quite like that). may also need a red haired wig. if i'm lucky, i can find a top that can double for Ranma and Ten-Ten, but for Ten-Ten i'm gonna need capris. and ninja shoes. i am now also in love with Ed's outfit. his cloak is oodles of alchemist joy, right there. XP and, of course, i wanna get a Sora costume. i had this whole plan to wander around Disneyland in a Sora costume on Halloween, just for the hell of it. just because it seems like fun.

now the problem i have is... finding a way to make any one of those costumes. for my sisters it would be easy to find things and put 'em together. Tifa is... what, a small, tight white sleeveless shirt, dark shorts with suspenders, fingerless gloves and boots. i'm pretty sure my sisters have those somewhere (except maybe for the suspenders). the Browncoat costume has been described once before by someone else. but for mine... *looks over all the stuff previously listed* ...erk. why do i make things hard for myself?!

i guess part of what really set off the cosplay spark was (in addition to the fascination i have when the Chapmanites dress up) this birthday party that we went to. we were all supposed to dress up as characters from 80's movies. my sister and i immediately attacked the closets in search of stuff that could work. Tifa just sat back and rolled her eyes at us 'cause she's boring. my sister wanted to dress up as Marty McFly (Back to the Future), but we couldn't find a life-preserver (which depressed her greatly). she wanted me to dress up as either the Basketcase or the Criminal (Breakfast Club), but i was eventually put into a Ted outfit (yes, Ted. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. yes, i turned into Keanu Reeves for a night). converse shoes, red and orange socks, black vest, white shirt, orange jacket tied around my waist. and since my sister was unable to turn into Marty, she turned into Jem, instead (remember Jem? "Jem, Jem is excitement, ooooh, Jem!"). we even made a pair of sparkly pink star earrings for her to wear, it was pretty funny. but yes, it was a very funny night for both of us. i think we were the only two people there who were completely into it. XD

i am TOTALLY going off on a rant now. i... no longer know what i am discussing. i think i'm scaring people. and so.... i will stop now. -_-;;

and on a completely random note: i successfully finished off the milk on Friday night in a fit of thirst. yep, i accomplished that all by my onesies. XD
hikaranko: (Default)
looks like i could possibly be going to Chapman tomorrow! sometime after lunch... before anime club starts. and i'm very likely going to be spending the night in my dorm. which means i'll get to go to anime club this week! whoohoo!! XD

that said, i will have things to do. gotta talk to the business office about our financial status (hopefully my sister will still be with me because i am horrible with numbers and money). gotta talk to the dean about my withdrawal, and then submit withdrawal forms or whatever stuff to housing and whatnot. gotta haul all o' my stuff outta my dorm. finalize things. i guess i can split all that between thursday afternoon and friday (for however long i'll be staying on friday). better bring my laptop with me... i have half a mind to bug Flores-sensei in whatever classes she's teaching. ... as nice as she is though, i don't think she'd like that. nevermind, i withdraw my statement.

i have discovered an amazing site which gives me complete (and FREE) access to loads of anime! Naruto and Bleach!! BLEACH!! which is awesome because i have Bleach withdrawal. and now i'm starting to catch up to where i first started to watch the series... yay for completing episode 33! (geez, i do everything in a backwards order, don't i? engh.) ^_^;; wow, i am SO behind. i thought maybe i could finish the next 20 episodes in the night, but... that's gonna take me like, 7 hours. so scratch that.

i love tonkatsu. :P

where's Naruto 293?

my sister lent me this jacket/sweater thing for when we left the house tonight. and i was... absolutely fascinated by it. it's a turtle neck sweater jacket thing. white. ridged. the neck was seriously turtley long so i had to fold it over so i could see. i'm assuming the thing is made outta white yarn in such a way that it's got these vertical ridges. i kept staring at it in the mirror. imagining if i could just rip off the turtle-neck collar... stick it on an orange jacket...
thought that maybe it would want to be part of a Naruto jacket.

unfortunately, the sweater thing itself cost $50. if i could only get my sister sick of it, so much so that she would give it to me and not care about what i did with it...

*ahem* so yeah. contemplating the trip to chapman now, because i'm starting to wonder about how my roomie might react. i DID message her that i'll have to come in at some point and get all my stuff and finalize everything... hmm. i don't wanna find myself in an awkward situation though...

random.
hikaranko: (biidah!)
*sigh* here i am in Las Vegas... not a whole lot for me to do here, since i'm a minor... not like i'd wanna gamble anyway. i can go to the arcades, i suppose. but i think that the arcade eats up more money than the slot machines.

had a mini-argument with my dad about money and what would be a "wise" something to spend a crapload o' money on.

for instance.
i would like to buy a Nintendo DS (and a game or two) for my birthday. the system by itself costs $130, or i can get it in a bundle at CostCo for $137-ish. then (once i retrieve my charger) i can sell my GameBoy SP to EB to get a little bit o' money back. i don't need a DS, i admit, but i'd like one for my birthday.

meanwhile, my dad lost $120 on slot machines in the span of about an hour. my sisters and i left the hotel about 2 and a half hours ago, so he's probably lost a lot more than that by now. his argument: it's HIS money to spend.

true enough. spend or waste or gamble your own money as you see fit. but it seems to me that actually buying something with that money is much more productive than gambling.

i feel good. getting a DS for myself. ^_^

will also get that Naruto jacket/vest thing. for fun. i like it. ^_^ we'll have ghetto/casual Naruto with Caitlin's Naruto pants. i hope that thing's still up for sale...! i'm so happy my sister pointed that out to me. i love that she encourages me in my love for anime.

WHOA!!

i went crazy over this thing! it was $15... i wonder if i shoulda got it. XD

exciting!!

do you know what today's date is? it is December 22nd. many things are happening today. MANY things.

firstly. it is my parent's 26th/25th year anniversary today (they were married twice, once in Manila and once in America). we got them a card in secret yesterday when we went to the mall. Happy Anniversary to the rentals. :)

secondly. Kingdom Hearts 2 came out in Japan as of today. rather, as of late afternoon yesterday, 'cause that's when it became December 22 over there. but still. omgwtf, i really want that game. and now i have to wait patiently for another 3 months for the game to come out in the USA. i'm sure it'll be worth waiting for, but that's still quite a long wait. and now i have to restrain myself from watching any video footage that comes out because it'll only be a huge spoiler and then the whole game will be ruined for me. :( oh the agony of it all....

*sigh* my heart aches.

oh yeah. when we went out yesterday, i saw this wig shop. and i was kinda staring at it as we passed it in the car, looking for parking. and then my mom said something about checking out the wig shop 'cause she's looking for some kinda hair extension or somethin'. so i went with her into the wig shop and i was looking around. you cosplayers have rubbed off on me. XP i was looking at all the wigs to see if they could be transformed into an anime character's hair, and checking if the colors were a close match. there were some hair extension ones that had a good color for a female Ranma. and there was one wig that i thought would be nice for a Naruto. and another wig that birded up at the back like Sasuke.

i don't know what my family would say if i told them i wanted to buy something for cosplay. XD

my sister got the Serenity DVD. 8D very exciting!!! so naturally, we watched it. i love that movie. my dad is boring, he doesn't understand how to appreciate movies. we watched the outtakes over and over and over again, because Mal is hilarious.
"get 5 or 6 bodies and strap them to the nose of the ship." "are you insane?" "put book front and center. he was our friend, it's an honor. kaylee! get that dirty child that was taking a nap and make him into a hood ornament, like a baby jesus. jayne! don't take too much of their shit! wash!!"
*sigh* and Mal dances, too. XD
we watched pretty much all of the bonus features. fully enjoyed the DVD. and i still can't get over that one smooth rolling shot at the beginning.

Joss Whedon owns us all.
